GVSA Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different leagues?

GVSA has a variety of leagues for men, women, and coed.  The Men’s Leagues have three different Divisions.  Men’s B is for very competitive teams who have been together for many years and have placed at “C” State.  Men’s C is for competitive teams with experience.  Men’s D is for teams who are just starting out or are not as competitive.  There is also a Masters +36 league, which requires all of the players to be 36 years of age or older.  For Women, there are is a C division and a D division.  The teams from both divisions play each other during the season.  Finally, there is a co-ed league with four divisions.  Co-ed B is for competitive teams who have been together for a while and have placed at “C” State.  Co-ed C is a very competitive league where both the women and men are very experienced.  Co-ed D1 is comprised of teams that have some experience, but have a few players who are new to softball.  Co-ed D2 is for teams who are playing for recreational purposes and who have many players without softball experience.  We encourage new teams to discuss what type of players they have with one of the Player Reps before signing up for a division.

 What are the Fees?

There are two types of fees.  The first is the Sponsor Fee, which is $700 for Men’s Leagues who play two times a week and $550 for Women’s Leagues, Co-ed Leagues, and Master’s Teams that play one day a week.  The Sponsor fee is due at the time the team registers for league play.  For the 2009 season, the due date for the Sponsor Fee is April 15, 2009.

The second type of fee is the Player Fees.  For teams that play two times a week, Player Fees are $50 per player.  For teams that play one time a week, the Player Fees are $35.00 per player.  Player Fees are due the first week of June.  More information on the process of paying Player Fees will be posted on the website and at the Complex.

When is the Deadline for Team Registration?

Teams wanting to play during the 2009 Season must register on-line at www.gvsoftball.org and pay their Sponsor Fees on or before April 15, 2009.

When does the 2009 Season begin?

The 2009 Season begins on April 27th and runs through the end of July. The season finishes with District tournaments, with the Men’s and Women’s District tournament being July 24-26, and Co-ed being held on July 31, August 1st and 2nd.

What nights does each league play?

Tentatively, the leagues will play on the following nights.  This might change based on the number of registered teams.

            Men’s B and C            Monday and Thursday

            Men’s D                      Tuesday and Friday

            Master’s +36               Tuesday or Friday

            Women’s                     Thursday

            Co-ed                          Wednesday or Friday

What type of uniforms are required?

It is requested that each player on the team have a shirt with a number on the back.  These can be as simple as a plain t-shirt with sponsor names and a number on the back.  This helps the score keeper keep track of players.

What should the team name be?

Most teams use the sponsor as the team names.  Please visit the website to see the names of teams from last year for examples.  This can be found under the “League Standings” tab on the website.

Where and when do we pick up packets?

Team packets can be picked up on April 24th any time after 10am at Universal Athletics in downtown Bozeman.  These packets will have the 2009 schedule, scorebook, ASA Rule Book and all other necessary forms needed for the season.
